Animals: red eft (newt), chickadees, blue jay, pileated woodpeckers, chipmunks, frogs, skunk, bobcat, barred owl, ringneck snake, gray squirrels, vultures, hawks, cardinals

Location: Table Rock State Park, South Carolina

From the intersection of highways 178 and 11, go northeast on 11. Drive 4.2 miles and turn left at the sign indicating Table Rock State Park, West Gate. Drive 0.4 miles and turn right at the toll booth. Drive 0.8 miles and park in the parking lot on the right across the street from the Carrick Creek Interpretive Center. The trail starts from the back deck of the interpretive center.

2.5 continue left at junction (right trail goes to Table Rock)
2.9 begin walking up bald rock overlook -- great views
top of bald rock overlook -- perhaps best views in park
(backtracking from this point creates an easier 5.8 mile hike)
3.0 continue up ridge with partial views left and right
3.3 turn left onto Foothills Trail (Pinnacle Mountain summit is straight ahead, but there's no view)
3.6 curve left towards Drawbar Cliffs
3.7 turn right off of trail when trail goes between two small piles of rocks (possibly old campfire rings)
