Location: Nantahalla National Forest, North Carolina

From the intersection of highway 107 and highway 64 in Cashiers, turn west on 64 towards Highlands. Drive 7.6 miles and turn right on Buck Creek Road. Drive 2.1 miles to the trail sign on the right near the top of a hill. There is a gravel road on the left and a pull-off on the right beside the trailhead.

Ascend 750 feet from Buck Creek Road to high point on Shortoff Mountain
Descend 450 feet from Shortoff Mountain to bearing tree
Ascend 100 feet from bearing tree to high spot on ridge
Descend 550 feet from ridge to crossroads
Ascend 1,050 feet from crossroads to top of Yellow Mountain
